Two ladies, Jumoke Ayodele and Opeoluwa Temitayo, were on Tuesday arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan Zonal Office, for reportedly attempting to smuggle hard drug to suspects in the commission’s detention.
The hard substance, a medical officer with the Commission, said is known as ‘colorado,’ a drug with dire psychological effect on its abusers.
The ladies admitted that the substance was a hard drug, meant for the detainees.
The suspects wrapped the substance in small cellophane packs tucked inside sausages that they brought for the detainees.
Although the EFCC usually feeds the detainees, the commission also allows them to receive meals from visiting relatives, after thorough check by the officials to ensure that visitors do not harm the detainees.
The detained suspects, Itiowe Kelvin, Oluwatobi Damilola and Ayodele David, were among those arrested during a recent raid on suspected internet fraudsters in the state.
Mr Wilson Uwujaren, Head, Media and Publicity of the EFCC, said the ladies would be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and possible prosecution.
