The atmosphere was charged at the Christ Primary School, Odinjo, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday as Deji Aboderin, a House of Representatives aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party in the state, met his constituents to declare his political ambition for 2023.
Thousands of supporters that thronged the venue of the meeting cheered the politician as he stormed the venue with his aides and political associates.
They welcomed him with songs alluding to the good name and the prowess of his lineage in Ibadan land.
In his address on the occasion, Aboderin, who is aspiring to run for the House of Representatives position for Ibadan South East and North East federal constituency, said that the citizen deserved good representation for required progress to be made.
In a bid to guarantee equitable development and improved living standard, he said that there was need for government at all levels to promote fairness in the dispensation of justice.
He said that “When you have the right people in government, things would run well and there would be development. Our people should benefit from government.
“We need a government that really cares about the people. We don’t deserve a government under which schools are closed down. This thing is ruining the lives of the youth and the future of the nation.
“Look at our university system today; there is strike every time and this is killing the system. Look at our primary schools, most of them have nothing to write home about.
The educational system, right from nursery primary to secondary schools up to the university level should be well catered for.
I believe in justice with fairness to all, whether you are rich or poor. The less privileged should enjoy fairness just as the rich do. The Nigerian justice system is not fair to all.”
Aboderin said if given opportunity to serve as an elected representative of his constituents, he would devote his tenure to fighting for smooth-running of the educational system by sponsoring and backing relevant bills.
“We need more committed patriots in government. Look at Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State. He is noted for working in the interest of the people. Look at the National Vice-Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja; people appreciate these people for their worth and impacts in government.
“With more people like that in government, the society would run well.”
Abduljeleel Abiola, Campaign Coordinator for Deji Aboderin, said that things had changed and the people now desired good representation in government.
“This is why the aspirant enjoys rousing welcome from the constituents who are yearning for positive change in representation,” Abiola said.
