The body of Mr Oluwole Agboola, a farmer who was reportedly kidnapped at Abaodo area of Olukitibi Village in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State has been found.
Agboola’s family made the disclosure in an interview in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Tuesday shortly after making the discovery.
It will be recall that the deceased was abducted on his farm on Monday, December 28, 2020 by six armed men dressed in military camouflage.
It was gathered that the victim was found dead after the hoodlums collected N1.65 million ransom from his family. A brother to the deceased, Olakunle Agboola, a journalist confirmed the killing of the farmer in an interview with journalists.
He said his brother was killed 10 days after the ransom was paid by the family.
“My brother, Wole Agboola, was killed after a huge ransom was paid and we later found his body inside the bush near Aba Odo yesterday at 6 o’clock, just a bit close to where he was abducted,” Kunle said.
It was gathered that operatives of the state police command had arrested some people in connection with the abduction.
The deceased was a piggery and fishery farmer during his lifetime.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, who confirmed Agboola’s death, said,
“Yes, but two suspects were arrested and are currently being investigated.”
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Police Command has described as untrue the viral report alleging that the police rejected the suspected hoodlums who were arrested by the Amotekun Operatives recently.
The Police Public Relations Officer, in the Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday, said the news was aimed at maligning the integrity of the police.
The statement read in parts, “The attention of the police command has been drawn to the news making the rounds about the refused admittance of robbery suspects brought into Mokola and Iyaganku divisional detention facilities by the Amotekun operatives.
“The message was to create to the public imagery that the police was uncooperative towards jointly combating crime with Amotekun.
