Sikiru Smith, a retired Air Vice Marshal, who was abducted on Monday in Ajah community, Lagos State, has regained his freedom.
The Lagos State Police Command made the disclosure on Saturday, in Lagos.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos Command, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, who confirmed the development in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, however, did not give details of how he regained his freedom.
The PPRO also did not disclose whether or not a ransom was paid to his abductors.
“I can confirm to you that AVM Smith has been released today. That is all I can say for now,’’ he said.
Recall that some unidentified gunmen abducted the retired AVM, a cousin to a former Inspector-General of Police and current Chairman of the Police Service Commission, retired I-G Musiliu Smith, at a construction site on Monday, along the Ajah-Badore Road, Lagos.
