Residents of Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State were, on Monday, moved to tears as some yet-to-be-identified persons reportedly murdered a five-year-old boy named Mojeed Tirimisiyu.

The young boy was allegedly hacked to death with a spade in the bush behind his parents’ residence, on his way to defecate.

Oyo Reporters gathered that the boy raised the alarm when he was hacked down with a spade.
His mother said that on getting to the scene, they met him in pool of blood.

The woman, popularly called Iya Mojeed, said the deceased had told his older sibling that he wanted to defecate at the back of the house.

She said, “Suddenly, he cried for help. We rushed to the scene and found him in the pool of blood.
“He was rushed to the hospital but later died.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said, “I received information that around 2pm on Monday, at Olorunsogo area, Moniya in Akinyele Local Government Area, one Mojeed Tirimisiyu, a boy of about five years old, while defecating inside the bush, was hit with a shovel on his head.

“When the boy was brought to the hospital, he was confirmed dead. His body was deposited at the mortuary.”
