The donation was presented during the university’s 16th convocation ceremonies and Alumni Lecture, held at the Folorunsho Alakija Law Faculty on Wednesday. The event celebrated the institution’s academic achievements and its efforts in nurturing excellence among students.
Speaking at the event, the National President of the Alumni Association, Mr. Busoye Ogunlade, highlighted the association’s ongoing commitment to supporting the university. He noted that under his leadership, the alumni made various contributions, including the purchase of computers for the Transcripts Department to streamline transcript collection for graduates worldwide.
Ogunlade also announced plans to launch an alumni website in December 2024. According to him, the platform will serve as a hub for former students, both locally and internationally, to connect and contribute to the growth of the university.
During the handover of the bus to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Timothy Adebayo, Ogunlade emphasized the need for alumni support to meet the increasing demand for quality education and enhance infrastructure development.
“To meet the increasing demand for quality education, the University urgently requires the support of its old students,” Ogunlade said, adding that “The school authorities alone cannot provide all the needs of the institution.”
He also expressed his prayers for the continued expansion and success of both the university and its graduates.
In his response, Prof. Adebayo expressed profound gratitude for the donation, describing the alumni association as a valuable partner in the university’s progress.
“We are grateful to the university’s alumni for purchasing this bus. It is timely, and we appreciate it,” the vice-chancellor said.
