The campaign organisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has warned the public against fraudsters impersonating the candidate and his campaign team to obtain sensitive personal and financial information.
In a statement issued on Saturday by its Director of Media and Publicity, Bisi Oladele, the organisation said suspected fraudsters had been contacting individuals by phone, requesting their National Identification Numbers (NIN), bank details and other confidential information under the guise of representing Alli.
It urged members of the public to disregard such calls and avoid disclosing personal or financial details to unverified callers, stressing that neither Alli nor his campaign organisation had authorised anyone to solicit NINs, bank details, passwords, PINs or one-time passwords.
The organisation warned that such information could be exploited for identity theft and financial fraud. It advised anyone who receives suspicious calls or messages to report them to security agencies and avoid transferring money through unverified channels.
It also pledged to cooperate with security agencies to identify and prosecute those involved in the alleged impersonation and fraudulent activities, urging the public to rely only on verified communication channels for information about the candidate and his campaign.
