Analysis of COVID-19 spread in Oyo State

Residents of Oyo State are in panic in view of the rate of spread of the virus in the state. 
As things stand at the moment, Ibadan South West Local Government Area of the state tops the chart of COVID-19 spread as a total of 149 staff of iSON Xperiences are, already confirmed positive. 
Seven cases were confirmed in the state in the early hours of Monday, May 25, with all coming from Ibadan South West Local Government Area. 
It will be recalled that the COVID-19 index case from Oyo State was from Bodija in Ibadan North Local Government Council Area, followed by the case of a United Kingdom returnee from Oluyole part of the city.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State had raised concern at a point about the growing cases of COVID-19 at the University College Hospital, Ibadan until testing was intensified at the  drive-through/walk-through testing centre at Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan. With this, the number of cases surged as the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force recorded a total of 64 cases in 15 of the 68 local government council areas and local council development areas in the state. 
The affected local government councils and LCDAs to included Ibadan North, Egbeda, Oluyole, Akinyele and Ibadan South East. 
From that record, Makinde said Ibadan North topped the table with a total of 26 cases, while Egbeda Local Government Council Area came next with eight cases. Ibadan South West and Oriire followed with seven and five cases respectively.  He wrote on his Twitter handle, ”The COVID-19 confirmation tests for five suspected cases came back positive. The cases are from the following Local Government areas: Ibadan North, 2; a foreigner in Surulere, Ibadan North East, 1; and Ibadan South West, 1.
Ibadan South East and Oluyole council areas have three cases each; Akinyele, Ido and Surulere have two COVID-19 cases each, while Ibadan North West, Ibadan North East, Lagelu, Olorunsogo, Ona Ara and Oyo East recorded one case each.
As of Tuesday, May 12, the number of cases in Ibadan North Local Government Council Area of the state stood at 27, while the number of positive cases in Ibadan North West is now 2.
There was one more case each in Egbeda and Oluyole as of May 18 with one case each from Afijio, Ibadan North East. Two are from Ido Local Government Council Area while one is from Ibadan South East Local Government Council Area.
The total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State as at Monday morning was 240 while the total number of cases at iSON Xperiences stood at 143.
