Following a failed bank robbery operation in Okeho, Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State, on Wednesday, three robbery suspects were set on fire by an angry mob.

Oyo Reporters learnt that the men of the underworld attacked the First Bank branch in the community at around 3pm. However, the police said the incident happened at 4:58pm.
The hoodlums were reported to have broken the main entrance of the bank with a dynamite for access.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi, however, said the robbers were repelled by armed policemen and the local hunters.

In a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Nwachukwu Enwonwu, said, “At about 4:58pm, there was a bank robbery in which dare devil armed bandits who came with white 18-seater bus, invaded First bank Okeho in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State with an intent to rob.

“The armed robbers, who gained entrance into the bank, used dynamites and AK-47 riffles shots to blow the bank security door. The robbery operation was responded to by the Police, the vigilante and the hunters yielded results.

“Three of the robbers, who were arrested when the 18-seater bus had an accident and somersaulted, were thereafter set ablaze by the angry mob when they attempted to escape the scene of the accident.

“The CP directed that security patrol team should smoke out the fleeing robbers who escaped from the scene of the accident.
