APC political appointees won’t vote during Saturday convention – Committee

Political office holders have been excluded from voting at the national convention of the All Progressives Congress on Saturday, the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the party has said. 

The APC CECPC said in a statement that “All political appointees who were elected as delegates to the National Convention slated for 26/3/2022 shall not vote in view of the controversy surrounding Section 84 (12) of the Electoral Act,2022.”

It stated, however, that political appointees could still attend as observers.

Recall that the National Assembly unanimous rejected the Electoral Act Amendment Bill signed by President Muhammadu Buhari last month.

The President and APC governors were said to have adopted consensus candidates for positions of National Chairman and other party offices.
