Reverend Tola Oyediran, eldest daughter of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, is dead.
Oyediran, a director with The Nigerian Tribune, reportedly died in her sleep in the early hours of Friday.
She was Chairman, Board of Directors, African Newspapers of Nigeria, publishers of the Tribune titles.
Oyediran, fondly called Mama Ibadan, was married to Prof. A. B. O. O. Oyediran, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan.
The deceased was to celebrate her 80th birth anniversary on December 1.
It was learnt that she did not show any sign of illness except for old age. “She was hale and hearty as at last night (Thursday),” a family source said.
Following her demise, Dr Olatokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu is the only surviving child of the late sage.
