Sunday Babalola has reportedly trounced 12 other contestants in the All Progressives Congress’ local government congress in Ibadan South West Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The APC local government congress held across the state, on Saturday, hours after the visit by Hillary Amodu, chairman of the party’s Congress Committee, to the state party secretariat.
A report had it that the exercise in the local government council was credible, free, fair and rancour free.
Procedures, conditions and requirements for the election of the party executives at the local government level were said to have been followed to the letter under the watch of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
It was learnt that the party’s stakeholders in IBSW LG, including the former chairman of the party, Prince Aderemi Oni and the 12 other contestants, were in attendance on the occasion.
Also in attendance were Saheed Akinade Fijabi (who headed the screening committee), Prince Yomi Ade Adefusi, Bolaji Adeleke (Titao), Folake Olunloyo, Olayemi Ariba Opaleye and the outgoing Oyo State APC Women Leader, Mrs Williams.
Others are Rafiu Folarin, Baba Balogun, a former Secretary to State Government, Alhaji Akin Olajide; and Dr Azeez Adeduntan, a renowned cardiovascular surgeon and former Commissioner for Health in the state.
APC delegates and leaders from Ward 1 to 12 in the council and party members, who were present at the congress, jubilated with the newly-elected APC council executives.
Sunday Babalola, in his acceptance speech, lauded the party leaders and members for the trust reposed in him. As well, he expressed appreciation to the INEC officials for the peaceful conduct of the congress.
