Residents of Iwo town were dazzled on Tuesday as the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, commenced the painting of roadside houses in the ancient town in keeping with his pledge to beautify the town.
Oyo Reporters learnt that the house painting project is being funded by the monarch with the aim of projecting Iwo for greater appeal and development.
The idea, the monarch further stressed, was initiated to establish uniformity and encourage cleaningness and hygiene among the inhabitants.
Oba Akanbi, on Tuesday, appealed to Iwo sons and daughters in diaspora to promote the idea of hygiene and beautification, saying it would be a good precedent for other cities in Nigeria and Africa to follow.
He said, “I task the residents of Iwo to embrace innovations capable of repositioning our town for positive reference.”
