Ibadan was on Friday thrown into celebration as the Olubadan-designate, Senator Lekan Balogun, ascended the throne as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The people of Ibadan (both natives and non-natives) were upbeat as the installation ceremony of Oba Balogun as the 42nd Olubadan kicked off.
Important dignitaries across all walks of life throng the Mapo Hall venue of the installation ceremony where a large crowd of people, including indigenes, jostle to celebrate and pay homage to their monarch.
Various socio-cultural groups and associations dawn colorful attires just as traditional drummers and cultural groups perform at different points.
Children were seen jubilating as praise singers, hawkers and petty traders made efforts to make brisk business on the occasion.
The Mapo Hall venue of the event comes alive with singing, dancing, and colorful traditional attires worn by attendees.
Security operatives are on hand to maintain law and order to ensure a itch-free programme even as government officials and important dignitaries arrive at the venue.
Musicians and Nollywood actors from within and outside Ibadan are also present at the venue of the installation ceremony. Popular Fuji musicians set their stages at different points to entertain dignitaries and well-wishers on the occasion.
The Ali-Iwo Compound where the new Olubadan hails from also comes alive as men, women and youth groups were seen in ceremonial attires and singing and dancing.
Traditional worshipers are also on hand singing, dancing and expressing joy.
The second largest city in Africa is electrified as different locations in the town, including Oje, Beere, and Oja-Oba area celebrate as there are heavy deployment of security operatives at strategic locations.
A senior security officer said that the Police personnel, officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, security teams from the Operation Burst and Amotekun personnel, including men of the Oyo State Fire Service were on ground at the venue to attend to emergencies.
