The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Oyo State Command, says it has arrested two suspects for the alleged diversion of petroleum products suspected to be premium motor spirit, otherwise called petrol.
The two suspects (both males), named Akeem Adesola and Benjamin Adeniyi, were arrested with a blue Leyland DAF tanker with registration number, LAGOS EKY 189 XV, along the Iseyin/Saki Road, around 2pm, on Wednesday, 14th July, by the Anti-Vandal Unit of the Command.
The waybill obtained from Adesola, 30, and Adeniyi, 29, revealed that they were heading to Ibadan.
While parading the suspects, the state Commandant of the NSCDC, Michael Adaralewa, said the Command had re-strategized by engaging in intense patrol of crime prone areas in the state in order to combat criminalities.
Adaralewa added that after thorough Investigation, the suspects would be charged to court.
Meanwhile, the Commandant has warned those indulging in diversion and other illegal dealings in Petroleum Products to desist or face the full weight of the law.
He said that NSCDC, Oyo State Command would leave no stone unturned in dealing with saboteurs of public property.
”The Command has zero-tolerance for criminalities, hence, all perpetrators are to either relocate out of Oyo State or be made to face the wrath of the law,” stated.
