Civil Defence to clamp down on vandals of electricity infrastructures in Oyo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Oyo State Command, has indicated its resolve to clamp down on those vandalizing electrical transformers and related facilities in the state.

The Commandant of NSCDC in Oyo State, Dr. Michael Adaralewa, gave the indication at the monthly briefing of the Command held on Tuesday, at the Area “A” Command Headquarters, Iyaganku, Ibadan. 

Adaralewa stated, “I am giving a marching order to all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to go after vandals of transformers and other power distribution facilities in Oyo State.”

The monthly briefing, attended by Heads of Departments, Heads of Units, Area Commanders, Sectional Heads, Unit Commanders and Divisional Officers of NSCDC, is aimed at reviewing the operations of the Command, assessing security challenges and giving directives to enhance internal security in the state.

The Commandant expressed dissatisfaction over rising cases of vandalism of electricity transformers and other facilities in parts of the state. 

He lauded the officers for their diligence and encouraged them to continue to live above board in the discharge of their duties. He disclosed the decision to increase security presence at worship centres on Fridays, Sundays and during the yuletide season in a bid to curb the rise in crime.

Other highlights of the meeting included the review of reports from the various departments, units and divisions under the Command. Strategies by which the operations of the Corps could be more effective was also discussed. 

Adaralewa assured the people of the state of the commitment of the NSCDC to protection of lives and property during and after the festivity period.
