There is growing concern in the opposition People’s Democratic Party as five governors agitating for justice in the party meet in Spain.
The party was enmeshed in friction over the choice of Dr Iyorchia Ayu as the National Chairman of the PDP with Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate.
Stakeholders within the PDP said that the friction must be eased on time so as not to affect the party’s fortune at the pool.
The governors, led by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, reportedly left the country for Madrid on Friday night.
Others are Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; his Abia State counterpart, Okezie Ikpeazu; and Samuel Ortom of Benue State.
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State is expected to be at the meeting later.
The PDP governors, otherwise called G5, gave the resignation of Ayu as a pre-condition for peace in the party following they might join Atiku’s presidential campaign council.
According to them, it is unfair to have both the national chairman and the presidential candidate of the party from the North.
The meeting was slated for Spain after a live media chat held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
