COVID-19: 1 dead, 56 positive in Oyo

The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force said, on Thursday, that it recorded one death as the total number of confirmed cases in the state rose to 661. 

The confirmation tests for 56 suspected cases came back positive just as the total number of COVID-19 related death in the state is now nine.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, who spoke via his verified Twitter handle, on Thursday, wrote, “If you have any strange fevers, sudden loss of taste/smell or other known COVID-19 symptoms, please visit the nearest community-based testing centre to get tested.

“The COVID-19 confirmation tests for 56 suspected cases came back positive. 

“The cases are from Saki West (14); Oluyole (9); Ibadan North (6); Akinyele (10); Ibadan South East (5); Ibadan South West (4); Ibadan North West (2); Atisbo (1); Saki E (1) Ido (1); Ona Ara (1); Ibarapa N (1); Egbeda (1) local government council areas.

“So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State today is 661. One COVID-19 related case passed away today. So, the total number of deaths in Oyo State is nine.”
