Three staff of the British American Tobacco, Ibadan have reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.
The disclosure was made on Saturday.
Oyo Reporters learnt that the workers were taken for test because they manifested symptoms of the virus.
The management of BATN, a multinational company which is situated along the Toll Gate area, Ibadan-Lagos Expressway, ibadan allegedly instructed some of its workers to go on self-isolation after the three staff tested positive for the virus.
One of the workers (names not given) who is presently on self-isolation in Ibadan, disclosed that some of the staff of the company were on self-isolation.
He said the National Centre for Disease Control was monitoring the case and the other affected workers through telephone calls.
The Incidents Manager, Oyo State COVID-19 Emergency Operation Centre, Dr. Taiwo Ladipo, said the officials of the NCDC and the state ministry of health had visited the company in view of the reported cases.
He said contact tracing had commenced and efforts were on to ascertain the number of affected workers.
On the three positive cases, Ladipo said, “We have been to the organisation to ascertain the extent of infections. I cannot say that we have more cases or not, but we have taken samples and we are awaiting the results.
”Once we get the results of the tests, we will be able to work through with them and see whether to close the factory or not.”
