Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has said that the state has opened 10 centres for the commencement of its community-based testing in a bid to curtail the spread of the virus.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state hits 317 while the total number of deaths arising from the disease in the state come to seven.
Oyo Reporters confirms that the discharged cases is currently 97.
Makinde, who gave the indication via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday, wrote that the Emergency Operations Centre would commence community-based testing at Lagelu, Ibadan South East and Oluyole local government areas of the state on Wednesday, June 3.
The governor confirmed that the results of the tests for 12 suspected cases came back positive. He said five of them were from iSON Xperiences in Ibadan South West Local Government Council Area.
The seven remaining cases came from Atiba, Lagelu, Oluyole, Akinyele, Ibadan Northwest and Ibadan South West local government council areas.
The governor tweeted, “The COVID-19 confirmation tests for 12 suspected cases came back positive. Five cases are from iSON Xperiences and seven cases are from Atiba, Lagelu, Oluyole, Akinyele, Ibadan Northwest and Ibadan South West local government council areas.
“So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State is 317.
“Please, note that the 8pm to 5am curfew, as well as the ban on religious gatherings in Oyo State, remain in force until further notice.
“As stated in my press briefing on May 18, 2020, a risk situation analysis is being conducted by experts and the outcome of this analysis will determine our next steps.
“The Emergency Operations Centre will commence a community-based testing drive at Lagelu, Ibadan South East and Oluyole local government areas on Wednesday, June 3, 2020.
“The community-based testing drive will take place in 10 different locations across the state.
“Please, call the Emergency Operations Centre if you have any COVID-19 symptoms: cough, fever, tiredness, body ache and shortness of breath.”
