The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force has recorded 16 new cases in the state.
Governor Seyi Makinde made this known, on Monday, through his verified Twitter handle.
At the moment, the total number of confirmed cases in the state is 507 since the first case was announced in March.
The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force informed members of the public that 10 designated centres had been established across the state in view of the community spread of the disease.
The governor’s tweet read, “Free COVID-19 tests are being conducted at community-based testing centres across Oyo State.
“If you have any strange fevers, sudden loss of taste/smell or other known COVID-19 symptoms, please visit the nearest centre to get tested.
“The COVID-19 confirmation tests for 16 suspected cases came back positive. The cases are from Ibadan North West (4); Ibadan North (3); Ibadan South West (3); Lagelu (2); Egbeda (2) and Itesiwaju (2) local government areas. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State today is 507.
“Please, call the Emergency Operations Centre if you have any COVID-19 symptoms: cough, fever, tiredness, body ache and shortness of breath.”
