Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State says it has discharged 95 patients after they received their second negative test results.
The governor, who doubles as the state COVID-19 Task Force chairman, added that the number of discharged cases in the state is now 271.
He said test results for 35 suspected COVID-19 cases in the state came back positive.
Makinde, who made the disclosure via his verified Twitter handle, on Saturday, announced that the total number of confirmed cases in the state has risen to 469.
The governor urged the residents of the state to adhere to the physical distancing order in view of the community spread of the virus in the state.
He tweeted, “Ninety five confirmed COVID-19 cases have received their second negative test results and have been discharged. This brings the number of discharged cases in Oyo State to 271.
“Also, the COVID-19 confirmation tests for 35 suspected cases came back positive. The cases are from Ido (7); Ibadan SW (5); Ibadan North (5); Ibadan NW (5) Oluyole (3); Ibadan NE (3); Ibadan SE (3); Egbeda (3) and Ogbomosho North (1) local government areas.
“So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State today is 469.
“Please, call the Emergency Operations Centre if you have any COVID-19 symptoms: cough, fever, tiredness, body ache and shortness of breath.”
