There was curiosity within the political circle on Friday as the Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, and his counterparts from Ekiti and Lagos states, Kayode Fayemi and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, paid a visit to the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike.
In company with the three governors were the Ekiti State governor-elect, Biodun Oyebanji; and former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, among others.
Both Wike and Fayose are chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Report had it that the APC chieftains met with Wike at his country home in Rivers State.
As of the time of this report, the purpose of the visit by the APC bigwigs was unknown.
There had been reports before the visit that the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, met with Wike in France but the news was swiftly debunked.
There are speculations that Wike may defect from the PDP after losing the party’s presidential and vice-presidential tickets of the party.
Atiku Abubakar’s decision to choose Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate did not sit well with Wike and some PDP chiefs, including Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.
