The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced another reduction in the price of petrol, bringing it down from N840 to N820 per litre.
This marks a cumulative reduction of N60 within a week, following an earlier cut from N880 to N840 per litre — representing a 6.82% drop in total.
Speaking on the development, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, Anthony Chiejina, said the move is aimed at easing the financial burden on Nigerians.
“We have reduced petrol gantry price to N820 from N840 per litre,” Chiejina confirmed on Tuesday, noting that the new pricing took effect the same day.
The latest reduction comes shortly after Dangote, alongside the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and other key fuel marketers, increased petrol prices less than three weeks ago.
That earlier hike had been attributed to a rise in global crude oil prices, triggered by escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly the conflict between Israel and Iran.
During that period, petrol pump prices surged to between N915 and N955 per litre in various parts of the country, up from under N900 before the adjustment.
