Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan, former Minister of Police Affairs, has said that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu stands tall among the four leading presidential candidates, stressing that despite being the most criticised man in the race, he (Tinubu) would emerge victorious at the poll.
Adesiyan pointed out that Tinubu, who is the National Leader of the APC, stood better chance because of his superior credentials over Alhaji Abubakar Atiku of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of Labour Party and Rabiu Kwakwanso of the New Nigerian People’s Party.
The politician, who is a member of the Campaign Committee for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidential election, spoke during a special interview session at a Guest Forum organised by the Correspondents Chapel, Oyo State Union of Journalists, Ago Tapa, Mokola, Ibadan, the state capital.
The APC scribe said, “Tinubu is the most criticised because he is the most equipped, the most knowledgeable, he is the only one that can bridge the gap between the poor and the rich. He is the only one that can unify the country without resulting into ethnicity or religious divide.
“Alhaji Tinubu, few months ago, was in Umrah for lesser Hajj. His wife is a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God. He told us that on the left, he would take the Quran and on the right, his wife would take the Holy Bible, and they were co-existing. There is no problem in their home at all unlike those who, because they want to marry a Christian, would ask her to renounce her religion.
“Let them criticize him and do whatever they think they can do; the will of God will be done in his case. Nobody can undo what God is doing in his life. He will be the most criticised presidential candidate until he becomes the president of Nigeria by the grace of God come 25th of February.”
He added that as the National Leader of APC and one of the founding fathers of the party, the president should see to Tinubu’s success at the poll.
“We have an array of presidential candidates. Atiku who has been running over the time, Kwankwaso who has been in the PDP and then APC, now in NNPP; Peter Obi who was in APGA, moved to PDP and is now in the Labour Party.
“Everyone knows that Tinubu has better credentials to govern this country. When this happens, we would see Nigeria as one place. There is no doubt that Tinubu is the best candidate. He is the only person that can bridge the gap between the poor and the rich.
“The situation in Nigeria is not palatable. Insecurity is the bane of development in this country. If you want to travel from here to Osogbo, you need to take security escorts. These are the things we think that Tinubu will correct. The love of the masses is paramount in his heart.
“As an incurable optimist, I know that Tinubu is going to win the presidential election. I want to assure you that with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as president, most of the problems we are facing will become a thing of the past.”
The former Chairman, APC Primary Election Screening Committee for Oyo State in 2022, also tipped the governorship candidate of the APC in the state, Senator Teslim Folarin, as the most experienced candidate in the governorship race in Oyo.
According to him, unlike Seyi Makinde, the incumbent governor in the state, Folarin has the record of serving at the Senate for three terms.
He said, “Folarin is more experienced than any candidate in Oyo State. Governor Makinde has no political knowledge. Folarin was former Senate Leader and three-term Senator. Compare that to someone who never held any political office. Now, he is fighting those who brought him to power as well as the presidential candidate of his party thinking that he can do it all alone.”
