Leye Oyebade, Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone XI, has stressed the need for officers and men of the Nigeria Police to embrace community policing in a bid to stem crime in the society.
The DIG made the call on Thursday during a visit to the Oyo State Police Command Headquarters, Eleyele Ibadan.
Oyebade said, “it is only community policing that would help to reduce crime to the barest in the country.
“Community policing must take its roots in the contemporary time. It is community policing that would help to detect and bring crime to the barest.
“The Inspector General of Police is saying that we all have to key into community policing and understand its concept.
“You cannot continue to use the old policing strategy of arrest and investigation. It is now about intelligence depth policing.
“Police with the fear of God and be mindful of any legal implications during investigation.
