Kayode Fayemi, Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum, has bowed out of office as the Ekiti State governor just as Abiodun Oyebanji takes oath of office as the number one man in the state.
The new governor was sworn in by the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Oyewole Adeyeye, on Sunday, October 16, 2022.
The ceremony was attended by a large crowd of people, including dignitaries from within and outside Ekiti State.
Oyebanji pledged to protect, defend and preserve the office as governor.
Fayemi, who had his first term in office between 2010 and 2014, was Minister of Solid Mineral Development.
Monisade Christiana Afuye, aged 64, was sworn in as his deputy.
Fift-four-year-old Oyebanji won the governorship election on joint ticket with Afuye on June 18 on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Oyebanji was Secretary to the State Government and Chief of Staff to the Governor.
