His decision followed the directive by Governor Fayemi that any of his appointees with governorship ambition should resign from his cabinet.

Oyebanji’s resignation was conveyed in a letter to the governor, dated December 3, 2021, taking effect from Tuesday, December 7.

He attributed his decision to resign to his desire to contest the 2022 governorship election in the state.

While accepting Oyebanji’s resignation, Fayemi lauded him for his contribution to the administration and wished him well in his future endeavours.
