Mustafa Adebayo Balogun, a former Inspector General of Police, is dead.
He was said to have died on Thursday at Reddington Hospital in Lagos.
Balogun was IGP under former President Olusegun Obasanjo between 2002 and 2005.
Balogun, who was born on August 25, 1947 in Ila-Orangun, Osun State, was a member of cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police Course 3.
He worked at various Police commands across the nation and was the Principal Staff Officer to former Inspector-General of Police, Muhammadu Gambo; Deputy Commissioner of Police, Edo State; pioneer Commissioner of Police in Delta State; and he was CP in Rivers and Abia states.
A fellow of the premier highest military institution in Nigeria, the National War College, Balogun became the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone One, Kano, from where he was named the IGP of Police on March 6, 2002.
