Some residents of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, were jolted with excitement on Saturday as the management of Total Grace Oil and Gas rewarded some of its customers with COVID-19 giveaway prizes.
The gift items include four Toyota Camry, 12 motorcycles, eight power generating sets and 10 freezers.
This, according to the Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Dr Henry Akinduro, is a way of empowering the “not-so-privileged’ members of the public in view of the challenges occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the first batch of the draw, which is billed to end in December, four winners emerged in a process that was conducted by star Yoruba Nollywood actors, led by Prince Jide Kosoko.
Akinduro, who disclosed that the winners were drawn from the four newly inaugurated branches of the firm in Ibadan, said, “This is the first time that this is happening in the oil and gas sector in Ibadan. At Total Grace Oil and Gas, apart from business interest, we are also particular about the welfare of our customers. People are passing through very difficult time and we thought of lifting, at least, some of them from hardship.”
In his address, the Commissioner for Lands and Housing in Oyo State, Ramon Abdulraheem, said, “The administration in the state is impressed by this gesture. We are ready to support any good initiative that could bring succour to the people of the state.”
Among those who were present on the occasion are Mr Bolaji Amusan, President, Theater Arts and Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria, a.k.a Latin; an Indian, Mr Santosh Sigh; and Yomi King, a.k.a Opebe.
Lead Fuji maestro, Taye Currency, was on hand to entertain the audience while Kosoko, Latin and Opebe anchored the programme on the occasion.
