Funke Oguntuyi, a.k.a Big Fish, a Nigerian kickboxing coach, has been reported dead.
Oguntuyi was said to have been found dead in her hotel room in Ilorin, Kwara State capital, on Saturday.
An award-winning Nigerian sports writer, Kuti Dare, reportedly announced her demise shortly after being confirmed dead.
However, the immediate cause of her death had yet to be confirmed.
The female coach was said to be attending a kick-boxing seminar organized by the Kwara State Government.
A graduate of Physical and Health Education and Sports Psychology, Oguntuyi was a respected grassroot coach in Martial Arts.
Although kick-boxing is not a popular sport in Nigeria, the success of Nigerian Israel Adesanya and Usman Kamaru increased the country’s interest in the sport.
