However, the brands of the two other vehicles that were torched could not be immediately ascertained when filing this report.

Oyo Reporters gathered that the explosion occured as a tanker, which was laden with Premium Motor Spirit, fell and burst into flame with other vehicles at the scene badly affected.

Some miscreants were said to have attacked sympathisers at the scene. However, the reason for the alleged attack could not be ascertained.

The Director of Operations, Oyo State Fire Services, Ismail Adeleke, who confirmed the incident, said he and his men were still at the scene of the accident at around 11pm.

Adeleke said, ”The fire started from the engine compartment of the tanker and the driver, having seen the burning fire panicked and jumped out of the moving truck.

”The vehicle lost control and fell spilling its content on the road and fire raged along the way. Two cars were destroyed but no life was lost in the inferno.”

The fire chief said the fire had been put off completely as at 11pm.
