Firemen battle to save vehicles as fire rages under Eko Bridge

Firemen are currently making efforts to quell an outbreak under the Eko Bridge, Apongbon area of Lagos State, as some vehicles are reportedly being burnt.

An eyewitness (name not given) said that the incident happened around 7am today (Wednesday).

No life was lost in the incident, but vehicles running into several millions of naira were said to have been reduced to rubbles.

The cause of the fire had yet to be ascertained as of press time.

Report had it that men of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Team were on ground to put out the fire.
 

The bridge had been blocked and cordoned-off in order to prevent further tragedy and loss of lives.

Motorists have been urged to ply alternative route following the fire incident. 
 

The bridge was said to have been badly affected due to intense impact of the inferno.
