The Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria in Kwara State has urged the state government to caution members of the Odua People’s Congress against alleged criminalities being perpetrated by the local security operatives in the state.
The Fulani group alleged that the OPC killed nine cows and stole over N6million during a clash between the two groups on Friday at Kaara Market, Ajase-Ipo, Kwara State.
Ali Mohammed Jounwiro, Chairman of the Association, who made the allegation on Saturday, futher claimed that 450 cows were missing while many people were injured during the incident.
He urged the state government and the security agencies to step into the matter, saying that the Fulani cow dealers in the community should remain calm and desist from inciting violence.
The Kwara State Police Command confirmed four deaths while the Fulani association claimed that nine people were killed in the incident.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the Command, Okasanmi Ajayi, disclosed that trouble started when a stray cow in the Kaara Market damaged the side mirror of one of the 20 vehicles conveying the OPC members who were coming from Osogbo, Osun State to Kwara State.
Okasanmi confirmed that the two feuding groups used dangerous weapons, including guns, during the bloody clash.
Policemen had since been deployed to the area to restore normalcy.
