The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, and many other dignitaries were on hand at the 40-day Fidau of the late National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, on Thursday.
The prayer, which was led by Alhaji Muyideen Bello, a renowned Islamic cleric, held in strict observance of the COVID-19 protocols.
Governor Ganduje described the late Ajimobi as a rare gem, stating that the political class should emulate the virtues of the deceased whose goodness continues to speak for even in death.
The Kano State governor said he continued to pray for the soul of the deceased and his family members.
He stressed, “We have been praying for him (Ajimobi) since his departure and today, we offered special prayer for him and we shall continue to pray for him so that Allah can give him Aljana Fidau, and to protect his family so that they can uphold the legacies of humanity which he left behind.
“The death of Ajimobi was a great loss, not only to his family and the people of Oyo State, but to the whole people of Nigeria. I urge our political leaders to emulate his virtues.”
During his sermon, Alhaji Muyideen Bello, noted that Ajimobi as a leader took his subjects to where they ought to be, adding that people should always think of death in whatever they do while alive.
“We are all living but we shall take our exit one day. We are on earth basically for a purpose; life is a destroyer and also a beautifier,” he said.
The cleric urged the children of the deceased to work in synergy and uphold the legacy of their father, adding that they should rally around their mother.
Adebayo Adelabu, the 2019 governorship candidate of the APC in Oyo State, said the party had mourned the late Ajimobi for 40 days.
Among others, Senator Teslim Folarin; former deputy governor, Chief Moses Adeyemo; former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Olalekan Alli; former Finance Commissioner, Bimbo Adekanmbi; and former Oyo State ALGON chairman, Abass Aleshinloye, graced the occasion.
