The peaceful atmosphere at Alaja Community in Moniya, Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State was upset on Monday as some men of the underworld reportedly broke into the area.

A woman named Adeola Bamidele, and her daughter, Dolapo, were attacked by some yet-to-be-identified suspects.

According to sources, Adeola, 45 and her daughter, 23, were asleep around 1am when the hoodlums broke into their home.

The gang made away with two mobile telephone sets after inflicting injuries on the woman and her daughter.

The women sustained deep cuts on their heads.

It was leant that the assailants had visited a nearby house but left the place as they could not gain entrance to the building.
Adeola explained, “I was attacked with machete while trying to rescue my daughter who had already collapsed.

“She was covered with blood and called for help. When they saw me, they left my daughter and pounced on me.”

Dolapo has been unable to talk as a result of the head injury. Her mother explained that they were helped to the hospital by their neighbours.

Residents of the Alaja Community Landlord Association reported the incident at the Moniya Police Division.

The aggrieved neighbours urged the security agencies in the state to be alive to their duties so as to avert a re-occurrence of the incident.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command,  Olugbenga Fadeyi, said police personnel were deployed to the scene of the robbery from Moniya Police Division but the hoodlums had escaped before their arrival.

The victims were said to have been taken to the hospital for treatment while investigation had since commenced into the matter.”
