Fifty-five years after the former Nigerian Head of State, Major General Jonhson Aguiyi-Ironsi, was killed in a bloody coup d’etat, Victoria, his wife, has been reported dead.
The former First Lady died on Monday morning at age 97.
General Aguiyi-Ironsi’s widow, who was 42 when her husband was killed in a bloody coup d’etat, refused to remarry following the national tragedy.
Her husband, who was the Supreme Commander and head of the Nigerian government, was killed in Oyo State, on July 29, 1966.
