The Chairman, Oyo State Housing Corporation, Bayo Lawal, has been inaugurated as Governor Seyi Makinde’s deputy in replacement of Rauf Olaniyan, the ousted deputy governor.
Lawal’s inauguration came after the Speaker of the House, Adebo Ogundoyin read a letter from Governor Makinde seeking the Assembly’s approval of Lawal’s nomination as the deputy governor.
Chief Justice of Oyo State, Munta Abimbola, performed the oath taking ceremony shortly after the approval of the report of the panel that recommended Olaniyan’s removal.
Lawal is the third deputy governor being sworn in by Justice Abimbola as Chief Judge.
The Oyo State lawmakers impeached Rauf Olaniyan, former deputy governor, from office less than an hour ago on account of matters of questionable conducts.
Relying on Section 188 (4) of the constitution, a total of 23 of the 32 state lawmakers signed the petition for Olaniyan’s sack.
