Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has called on members of the 2025 Batch B Stream 1 of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to approach their service year with a strong sense of duty, patriotism, and integrity, saying their actions will reflect not only their personal values but also their role in shaping Nigeria’s future.
Delivering his message during the official Swearing-In Ceremony at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ogbakuta, Iseyin, the Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, declared the orientation course open and welcomed the Corps Members to the state.

Governor Makinde underscored the importance of the NYSC scheme in promoting unity and national development. He encouraged the Corps Members to embrace hard work, discipline, and respect for cultural diversity, describing the service year as a defining period in their personal and professional growth.
“As you take the Oath of Allegiance today, remember that this is a call to serve your country with loyalty, uplift the communities you are sent to, and leave a legacy of development and unity,” he said.

He assured the Corps Members that the state government remains fully committed to their welfare and security throughout the service year. According to him, all relevant agencies have been directed to treat their concerns with urgency and seriousness.
“Your security is a matter we take seriously, and I assure you that all necessary measures have been put in place to protect you during your service year,” Makinde said, emphasizing that the state sees them as partners in progress and expects them to be agents of positive change.
Earlier in his remarks, the NYSC Oyo State Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, expressed appreciation to the Governor for his consistent support for the NYSC programme, noting that the administration’s commitment has contributed to the excellent welfare conditions enjoyed by Corps Members in the state.
Mr. Peters encouraged the newly sworn-in Corps Members to participate actively in all orientation activities, explaining that the programme is designed to instil discipline, foster teamwork, and prepare them for the realities of national service and life beyond it.
The ceremony featured the administration of the Oath of Allegiance to the Corps Members and a vibrant display of strength and unity by the Man O’ War unit in a tug-of-war contest symbolizing the start of a year-long journey of service, sacrifice and nation-building.
