The Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, on Thursday visited the Iwo Road area of the Wednesday bloody clash in Ibadan where two persons reportedly lost their lives.
The fracas reportedly broke out between some drivers and traders at the Iwo Road Shopping Complex following an argument over parking space.
The fight was said to have been triggered by an altercation between Rahmon, the son of the owner of the shopping complex, and some commercial drivers, said to be members of the Park Management System in the state.
It was learnt that the commercial drivers had parked their vehicles in front of the shopping complex thereby preventing buyers and shop owners from parking their vehicles.
Rahmon was killed during the altercation that ensued.
Makinde, on arrival at the scene amidst heavy presence of armed policemen, soldiers, NSCDC officials and Amotekun, inspected the area.
He assured the traders that the incident would be investigated. To help the investigation, the governor asked the traders to select two representatives as eyewitnesses.
One of the traders, who spoke anonymously, said the armed commercial drivers looted their shops after killing Rahmon.
One of the telephone sellers, who gave his name simply as Akeem, told The POINT that “They stole everything in my shop just like they did in other shops.
“We want justice. The young man whom they killed must not be allowed to die in vain. The governor must ensure that justice is done.”
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ngozi Onadeko, who was also at the scene, told the traders that the police had begun investigation to unravel the causes of the crisis.
