Residents of Igisogba Oke-Odo community, Omi-Adio area of Ibadan, are currently in grief as three of their members reportedly got drowned on Monday.
The tragedy followed a downpour which got parts of the community flooded.
The general chairman, landlords association in the community, Mr. Nureni Adejumo, with two other people got drowned.
Mr Alimi Olumuyiwa and Wasiu Adeshina, who are residents of the community, said, “Three people were drowned in the river on Monday evening. One of them is the community’s general landlord chairman, Mr. Nureni Adejumo, a.k.a., Master.
Nurudeen, son to the missing chairman, said, “I received a distress call yesterday (Monday) evening that my dad had been swept away by flood and he is nowhere to be found.”
The chairman’s son, expressing agony, said news of his father’s fate, brought to his mind the loss of his mother 10 years ago.
The residents of the community urged Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State to rise to the challenge by reconstructing the bridge in the area which collapsed more than 10years ago.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Olugbenga Fadeyi, could not be reached for response at the time of this report.
