The Ijebu Heritage Group, in collaboration with the Ijebu Development Initiative on Poverty Reduction, is set to present a two-week empowerment training workshop for the youth in Ijebuland towards job creation, food abundance and poverty reduction.
According to the two groups, the vision was borne out of the desire to engage the youth of Ijebụland productively, and to also curb crime as well as unrestiveness.
Dr. Marcus A. Adeniyi, Chief Executive Officer, Ijebu Development Initiative on Poverty Reduction, while shedding light on the aims and objectives of the scheme, said that the idea was intended to awaken the spirit of creativity, hardwork and industry for which the Ijebu people are known.
Adeniyi explained that experts would be on ground during the two-week to train participants on fish farming, piggery farming, poultry farming and all-seasoned vegetable farming.
This, he said, would transit the internally generated revenue of the entire Ijebuland into higher level for the overall development of the area.
“The programme would hold between November 20 and December 1 at the One-Shop Farmers Centre, IDIPR Eriwe Farms Village for free.
“We enjoin all interested participants to circulate the information and make themselves available for the lifetime opportunity because it is life-changing,” he said.
“As we all know, food is an important life wire and this is a way of strategic planning to parttake in the sharing of the wealth of the present and future generation. I want to assure all of us that participants won’t regret being part of this huge economic drive for food abubdance and economic growth of Ijebuland. Let’s be there.”
