Landlords and landladies in Akingbile/Oluana/Lagbe areas of Moniya, Akinyele Local Government Council Area of Oyo State have inaugurated the newly elected executive council members of the community.
The inauguration, on Saturday, marked the end of the four-year-tenure of Elder E. S Olaimi porpularly called ‘Arowo.’
In his farewell address, the outgoing chairman said, “Akingbile/Oluana/Lagbe/ areas of Akinyele Local Government Council Area is endowed with enlightened and wonderful personalities from all walks of life. This has led to the development of the area.”
Olaimi further stressed that the community had recorded landmark achievements such as the renovation of Hallogen hall, construction of school, road, security enlightenment, celebration of the Akingile/Oluana/Lagbe Day and the inauguration of the newly constituted environmental sanitation committee in the community.
The newly elected Chairman, Deacon Jonathan Oyeku said, he was inspired to serve going by the strength of cooperation and the unity of purpose in the community.
Oyeku, who is the 10th elected chairman in the community stated that “Many people hope to live and own property in this community because of high level of security checks put in place.
“This community is gifted with great people who are always ready to work for the development of the area. We record outstanding achievements in areas of education, healthcare and more.”
He said his team had laid out laudable programmes which include beautification of the entry point into the community, establishment of database for easy identification of residents and numbering of buildings in the community.
Others are installation of solar energy for improved lighting, writing of history of Akingbile/Oluana/Lagbe which would spotlight the projects and document the origin, culture and other facts and figures about the community. “These and more are what the new leadership looks forward to achieving,” he said.
Awards were presented on the occasion to outstanding personalities who had contributed to the development of the community.
Present at the event are royal fathers, technocrats, politicians and other dignitaries from far and near.
Also available on the occasion are officials of the Oyo State Environmental Services.
