The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc. has warned electricity users against engaging in energy theft, saying that it contradicts the spirit of honesty and sacrifice that Eid-El-Kabir stands for.
IBEDC describes energy theft as a criminal offence that undermines the quality of services rendered.
In a statement made available by the acting Managing Director of IBEDC, Francis Agoha, the DisCo, emphasized the importance of selflessness, brotherly love and sacrifice in fostering unity and prosperity for Nigeria as key values extolled at this season.
The statement reiterates IBEDC’s dedication to providing quality service within the remit of its control. It read that technical teams were committed to resolving faults that may occur.
The Managing Director appealed to customers to refrain from engaging in energy theft as it contradicts Eid-El-Kabir’s spirit of honesty and sacrifice. “Energy theft is a criminal offence that undermines the quality of service for all customers,” it says.
In addition, it urged customers to report any issue or complaints to IBEDC offices or call the customer care line, just as it also warned against tampering with electrical installations.
The statement also encouraged customers to utilize IBEDC’s hassle-free payment channels such as the IBEDCPAY app for Android and iOS users, FetsWallet, Quickteller, Payarena, Jumia, Watu, Buypower, and ATMs for bill settlements and vending in order to avoid disconnection.
“IBEDC offices will remain open during public holidays from 9am to 3pm to address customer needs and inquiries can also be made via email at [email protected],” it concluded.
