The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc. has expressed its commitment towards the development and progress of Nigeria through improved electricity distribution within its franchise area.
The management of the company gave the assurance in a congratulatory message to Nigerians in anticipation of its 63rd Independence Day anniversary.
In the statement made available to Oyo Reporters, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of IBEDC, Engineer Kingsley Achife, emphasized the importance of upholding the sacrifices and ideals of the founding fathers as the guiding principles for a united and harmonious country.
The statement quoted the MD as reiterating the company’s “dedication to contributing to national development through exceptional service delivery and the reduction of the metering gap within our franchise area.”
It read that IBEDC had put measures in place to ensure seamless service delivery during the public holiday and to also address electrical faults that might arise at the time while also advising its customers to use the company’s care line in case they have complaints and reports to give.
“The management also urged motorists to exercise caution by avoiding driving under the influence of alcohol and adhering to traffic rules to prevent accidents involving electric poles and other hazards during the festivities.
“Also, IBEDC implores customers to take a stand against energy theft, this includes tampering with meters or outrightly stealing electricity from the company as well as avoiding any shortcuts in bill payment processes.
“This practice not only undermines the integrity of our electricity distribution system and jeopardizes the sustainability of the power supply, but also robs the nation of the much-needed resources for development,” the statement read.
It encouraged customers to take advantage of the IBEDC’s hassle-free payment channels, including iRecharge, Quickteller, Payarena, Jumia, Watu, Buypower and ATMs, to settle their bills and recharge their meters even as IBEDC offices would remain open for some hours during the holiday.
