.Absolves kinsman of betrayal allegations
The Igangan Community Development Association has faulted the allegations levelled against one of its kinsmen, Tunji Omolewu, that he connived with operatives of the Department of State Service to raid the Ibadan residence of a Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Sunday Igboho, describing it as unfortunate.
The group spoke in reaction to a claim by an online presenter, ‘Akanda Oro Awikonko,’ that Omolewu, popularly known as Janbele, betrayed Igboho by revealing some of his secrets to the officials of the DSS, leading to the bloody raid.
Recall that some security operatives attacked the Soka, Ibadan residence of Sunday Igboho in a midnight raid, killing two of his aides and arresting others, including some of his cats on Thursday, July 1, 2021.
The raid followed earlier attacks on Igboho on January 26, 2021, by some faceless gunmen who torched a section of his house, and the faceoff, on February 26, 2021, between Igboho and his supporters with the security agents along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway when going for a meeting with Pa Ayo Adebanjo, an Afenifere chief.
The Chairman of the Igangan Community Development Association, Segun Okedeji, at a news conference in Igangan, Ibarapa North Area of Oyo State recently, described the allegation as mischievous, callous and a wicked lie against Janbele and the Igangan community.
Okedeji said that “The (Igangan) community will not tolerate any act capable of severing its cordial relationship with Igboho who, through his assistance, liberated the entire zone from the incessant attacks on farmers and residents by armed Fulani herdsmen.
“The Igangan community has undisputed confidence in Janbele, an ally of Igboho for almost three decades without any form of suspicion, that he can never betray him.
Attempts made by Oyo Reporters to get a reaction from Awikonko on the allegation by the ICDA were abortive as of the time of filing this report.
Telephone calls made to Awikonko were not picked. SMS and WhatsApp messages sent to him were also not replied.
