Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide sympathizes with Prof. Banji Akintoye over wife’s death

Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, the umbrella body of Yoruba self-determination groups, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Mrs. Julia Olubusola Akintoye, wife of its leader, Professor Adebanji Stephen Akintoye. The group described her death as a devastating loss that is difficult to bear.

In a statement dated Thursday, December 26, 2024, and signed by its Secretary, Yemi Akindele, the group conveyed its condolences in a message made available to Oyo Reporters Online. The statement read:

“The entire membership of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide hereby commiserates with our leader and the head of the Yoruba Nation struggle, Prof. Adebanji Stephen Akintoye, on the passing of his dear wife and our beloved mother, Mrs. Julia Olubusola Akintoye, which occurred on Wednesday, December 25, 2024.

“We wish to express our heartfelt sadness. Please accept our sincere condolences on the death of your beloved wife at this critical stage of our struggle for a sovereign Yoruba nation.”

The group further stated:

“In this period of great loss, please know that we are with you in body, soul, and spirit. You are always in our thoughts and prayers.

“Kindly take solace in the fact that not only will she live forever in our memories, but she will also reign with our Heavenly Father.

“May the Lord continue to guide and strengthen you and grant you and your family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

“May her gentle soul rest in peace.”
