A female soldier with two other women who were reportedly abducted at Onipe Village, along Ibadan Ijebu-Ode Road are now said to have regained freedom from their abductors.
The kidnapped women, it was gathered, were freed four days after an undisclosed amount of money was paid as ransom by their family members.
The trio, namely Theresa Okeowo, Abosede Adebayo and Bola Ogunrinde, were rescued by police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Idi Ayunre Division, at about 9am on Friday beside a bush near Triton Fish Company, Ogunmakin.
Okeowo, a secondary school teacher in Ogun State was reportedly given a ride by Mrs Ogunrinde, a Master Warrant Officer, alongside Mrs Adebayo, a dentist, also in Ogun State, when they were kidnapped on Monday, April 12.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Adewale Osifeso, while confirming the news of their rescue, said the police made efforts to dismantle the logistics of the abductors.
“As a result of ceaseless, strategic and systematic utilisation of intelligence and operational assets coordinated by the Commissioner of Police, Ngozi Onadeko, we got the desired result,” Osifeso said.
He explained that the security operatives mounted intense pressure on the kidnappers by invading their hideout.
According to him, the women had since been medically evaluated and reunited with their families while efforts were on to arrest the kidnappers.
