The people of Eganyi community, Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State, are currently in shock over the news of the abduction of their traditional ruler, Alhaji Mohammed Adembe.

Adembe was reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday, while on the way to his community from Okene, in Kogi.

It was learnt that the gunmen took advantage of the bad spots on the road to carry out an attack on the traditional ruler.

DSP William Aya, the Police Public Relations Officer, Kogi State Command, confirmed the incident.

According to him, Adembe was kidnapped at about 5:20 pm along the Okene-Eganyi Road.

Aya said, “His car slowed down at one of the potholes on the road; the gunmen emerged from a nearby bush and started shooting sporadically into the air, thereby forcing him to a stop.

“Other occupants of the vehicle were spared as the gunmen marched only the traditional ruler into the bush.’’

He stated that men of the Command were already combing the surrounding area and the bush in a bid to rescue Adembe and reunite him with his community.
