The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has condemned the recent killings at the Christ Apostolic Church (C.A.C), Oke-Isegun in Eruku, Kwara State, describing the attack as ‘gory,’ ‘heinous,’ and an assault on the sanctity of human life.
The PFN National President, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, said in a press statement issued by its Media Bureau that the incident, which occurred a few days ago, represents yet another alarming escalation of violence against Christians in Nigeria.
Wale Oke described the attack as a “stark manifestation of the escalating genocide” targeting Christian communities across the country.
According to the Christian leader, the tragedy is not only heartbreaking but poses a significant challenge to the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“This tragic incident is a direct test of the credibility and resolve of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s administration. It is also a calculated attempt to destabilize the peace and unity of our nation.
“We urge President Tinubu to rise to the occasion and demonstrate unwavering leadership in the face of these challenges,” Bishop Oke stated.
The PFN President extended condolences to the leadership and members of the Christ Apostolic Church, with special mention of Pastor Samuel Olusegun Oladele and the global C.A.C community.
The clergyman also commiserated with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the people of Eruku, and the entire Kwara State as they mourn the victims of the attack.
“Our hearts are heavy, and our prayers are with all those affected by this senseless violence,” he said.
Bishop Wale Oke called on the Federal Government to act swiftly and decisively to apprehend the perpetrators and curb the rising wave of violent attacks in the country.
He stressed that Nigeria can no longer afford to tolerate the “needless waste of human lives,” urging security agencies to intensify efforts to safeguard communities, especially places of worship.
While urging Nigerians to remain united, vigilant and prayerful during what he described as ‘trying times,’ the PFN leader reaffirmed the Fellowship’s commitment to advocating peace, justice and respect for life. He added that the PFN will continue to intercede for the nation and its leaders.
“We are praying and we will continue to pray for divine guidance for our President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our leaders, that God may grant them the wisdom and courage to take the necessary steps to restore security and protect the lives of all citizens,” Bishop Oke said.
The Christian body reiterated that safeguarding human life and preserving national unity must remain a top priority for the government as Nigerians continue to grapple with insecurity across various regions of the country.
